Mauris Noronha – or affectionately known as – Mauris Bhai – has been a true brother to all who need his assistance.

The man behind providing essentials & food in Mumbai during the pandemic. Mauris Bhai has spent most of his life in Mumbai and has started his journey by serving the people of Borivali & Dahisar. From the year 2005, he has pursued his dream of serving needy people.

To fulfill this dream, Mauris Bhai provided help in multiple locations in Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Mauris Bhai believes that one should serve and do good to people on their own. That is why he doesn’t believe in accepting donations to help the needy. He has been spending his own money to help others in need and has successfully done it so far. Mauris Bhai believes that people can do better with the right support, financial as well as mental. For motivating the community he cares for, Mauris Bhai writes quotes, which are his original thoughts aimed at uplifting troubled minds.

Mauris Noronha has served not just in Mumbai. He has also provided social aid to the underprivileged community in Pune, Shirdi, Nasik and other interior parts of Maharashtra Even during this COVID-19 Pandemic, so far, he has provided ration kits to more than 6 lakh people and he believes that no one should go to sleep on an empty stomach. Mauris Noronha’s contact number is available to the public and he always tries to respond promptly.

Background
Raised as a Christian in Dhobi Talao, Mauris Bhai (as lovingly called) matured early in life, and through the teachings of various Gurus and Dada’s around him, he soon became a social worker in Aamchi Mumbai. Before he turned 18, Mauris Noronha socially and culturally evolved as a multi-religious and faceted youth leader in society, with a vision to help the needy irrespective of religion, caste or creed. Professionally he took up a career which was very unique in the early 2000s, that of being an international poker player, Ge was an acclaimed one, winning individual medals and top prizes at the biggest tournaments in the world. Both, international players and spectators were surprised to see an Indian performing so well consistently.

I.C. Colony and Shivaji Nagar
Over the past 17 years, Mauris has been the most generous social worker and philanthropist in the above-mentioned areas of Borivali West and Dahisar. Each year, he has ensured that no one goes hungry during Diwali & Christmas, by serving food to many thousands of people and sharing gifts of joy during the auspicious festival of Diwali. For Christmas, as it is winter in Mumbai, he donates about one thousand blankets each year. The people of I.C. Colony know him well and reach out to him whenever they feel they need some help. For the majority lower income strata of Shivaji Nagar, he comes as succor in various forms, throughout the year, Children have grown up seeing Mauris Bhai feed them and have come to love him and join him as volunteers during his philanthropic deeds.

Covid 2019-2020
Just after coming back in January 2020 from an international poker tournament, Covid struck India with alarming rise in cases and the Government enforced a lockdown in March. BEFORE THE LOCKDOWN WAS ANNOUNCED, Mauris Bhai, already seeing the fear in people and the gradual decrease in earnings by the labour class in his vicinity, started taking action. He laid out fruits, vegetables and grains for his society members so that no one had to worry about going out as health risk, nor hoarding. From that time till now October 2021, Mauris has directly helped over 10,00,000 (10 lakh) people in Mumbai and Maharashtra, He has covered almost every station of Mumbai from Churchgate to Virar and beyond Boisar, Palghar, as well as Navi Mumbai and then further to Pune, Nasik, Shirdi and Ahmednagar. He distributed food packets to the poor and needy, to the Priests of various small temples, masjids and churches, to School children and Teachers, Stranded Migrants Handicapped groups, Transgenders, Ambulance personnel, Police staff, BEST drivers, Volunteers, Press reporters, Fishing workers and Fishermen in villages, Auto-rickshaw drivers, Cobblers, Security staff, Housing societies, Senior Citizens, BMC staff, Advocate groups, Fire department staff and many more. Apart from food, he helped some of the above with PPE kits, Sanitizers, Face masks, Hand gloves, Cool water and drinks.

Without discrimination of religion, caste, region or political affiliation, he simply went and served. As long as the were poor or needy and someone called Mauris Bhai after seeing him on Facebook, YouTube, TC or hearing about him on Radio, he would reach there ALMOST THE VERY NEXT DAY! The food grains, fruits, oil & ready food served was over 1 LAKH KILOGRAMS. That is surely a mean feat for a SINGLE individual. All with an ever-clear message “No Donations Accepted”. He woke at 6 am and slept at 12 midnight, thinking, dreaming & doing only charity work for over 1.5 years.

He has been called and felicitated by various politicians, civil society organisations, The Mayor of Mira Bhayandar, the Mayor of Mumbai and the specially honoured by the Governor of Maharashtra over 6 times in 1 year.

Post-Covid World
Mauris Noronha has physically and mentally been there for everyone that called him with a genuine need. Perhaps that is why people are requesting him to be a municipal corporator in the local area. They want to return the love he has given them. Mauris Bhai has stayed far away from the thought of politics for many years now. However, after seeing Covid, when all the local politicians stayed in their homes, even after lockdown, and did nothing for the poor and needy, he had decided to change things now. Though he made a space in the hearts and minds of people today which is more than what any leader or politician can ask for. Mauris wants to make a PERMANENT CHANGE
for the good of the people, via politics. He wants true genuine leaders like himself to join politics and perform via the right path so that the ward, the municipality, the region, state and country men all prosper. And no Indian goes hungry. He has the backing of over 16,000 people in Shivaji Nagar whom he has been feeding over the years.
